T&M Towing goes above and beyond with daring helicopter heavy duty recovery
Heavy duty recovery was needed when a 4×4 half ton truck drove off a mountain pass near Eugene Oregon and was laying in timber country, thousands of feet down. The truck fell so far that traditional towing and heavy duty recovery techniques just didn’t apply. In fact, every insurance adjuster who was asked to assess the situation wouldn’t even go look because it was too dangerous and because there was no exact address.
So, our T&M Towing and Hazmat team was contacted. We are always up for a challenge. We sent a team in and we confirmed the trecherous heavy duty recovery situation. We even managed the process, working with the insurance company and other parties. On the day of the recovery, we arrived with a flatbed and were met by the helicopter. To extract the truck, we sent a few of our guys to walk down the mountain. You can them in the distance in the photos. They made their way down in heroic fashion. They prepped the truck for the recovery, attached straps and chains. Then the helicopter flew in. Like out of a movie, the truck was attached to the line lowered by the helicopter. And the T&M team watched the truck fly away with the truck. It was kind of beautiful.
Everything went according to plan. Thanks to all those involved. We love challenges like this. It was fun and totally awesome.
